VINAYAK SARWANKAR

Vinayak Sarwankar is a Mumbai-based multidisciplinary artist whose vibrant paintings and sculptural works draw on memory, nostalgia, and the visual language of childhood. A graduate of the L.S. Raheja School of Art, he transforms the cartoons, comics, and popular imagery that shaped his early years into richly layered compositions that move between abstraction and figuration. Sarwankar builds textured surfaces that reward close looking while retaining an immediacy and playfulness that resonates across generations. His practice explores how personal memories become collective ones, using colour, humour, and familiar forms to create works that feel both joyful and emotionally resonant. He has exhibited with Method Gallery, Art Mumbai, and the India Art Festival, and is the recipient of the Art35 Grant and the AffectArt National Award.
